Chicago

Bryan and I visited Chicago May 22-24, and had a fabulous weekend. Quick summary of our adventures:

We took the "L" from the airport to our hotel - it was super easy. Our hotel, Hyatt Regency, was located on Wacker Drive along with a great view of the Chicago River. We immediately walked to Giordano's and had our first official Chicago style pizza- yum!

Then we walked to the Chicago Institute of Art. We thought it was a great idea as it was overcast outside - wrong. There was so much we wanted to do, and being inside was not one of them

We walked to Navy Pier, and hung out a bit. We finished our day at Big Bar, a bar in our hotel, supposedly the largest bar in Chicago.

We started our morning grabbing breakfast to go at the cute cafe next door, and then took the water taxi to Chinatown. Bryan discovered the taxi, and it was a spur of the moment plan.

Chinatown was quite impressive and bigger than we expected . . .

.We grabbed the L and headed to North to see . . .

Buckingham Fountain (as seen in "Married with Children") . . .

We walked to Millennium Park (a must see) . . .

saw the "bean" and the "cool" fountain,
for a lack of the real names. Then we had a wonderful Chicago style hot dog...a first for us both.

We walked up Michigan Avenue to the John Hancock building's observation deck. And somehow as we walked up Michigan Avenue, I managed not to buy a thing!

Not done yet, we still had the Wendella boat tour of the Chicago River along with a great view of Chicago's sunset on Lake Michigan

Finally done walking! Bryan and I completed our night at the rooftop bar at The Wit Hotel. Totally way too crowded for a Sunday night...do these people work?

The next day we walked (yes, more walking) to Lou Malnati's and had, possibly the best pizza eve, (sorry Myle's pizza). We took a few frozen pies for our journey home, and to share with others.

Thanks to all who gave us advice on what to do and see in Chicago.
