decaffeinated ARE

I have NEVER in my life procrastinated something so big . . . the stupid ARE (Architecture Review Exam). Just thinking about it makes me sick. As most may know, this is the exam one takes to become a 'registered' architect. One can't legally practice architecture or even call himself an "architect" without passing this exam. This is what represents the pinnacle and culmination of my academic and professional endeavors, and is the final step I make to be "on my way". Funny thing is . . . I don't know where the hell I'm going!

The test is so darn difficult (and even--dare I say--not worth it) that I know many people in my field who have no plans to take it. It's just not worth it. By the way, there are 9 sections which a candidate sitting for this exam schedules in 4 hour increments. I have taken (and passed) 2 so far. Every weeknight or weekend I try to do ANYTHING that I can to not study, as one observer (Bryan) has so keenly pointed out.

Is it possible that my fever for the flavor of this game has diminished to a mere fever for a day of playing unfounded hooky?

. . . to be continued.
