For the most part Bryan and I have very little drama in our life. Last night our evening actually started out quite delightful. It began with a short trip out for some coffee: "Bryan, let's take your car because I'm almost out of gas in the Jeep." (key information . . . read on)
We ventured out to get coffee, and on the way home we decided to take a quick walk to the scenic overlook at one of the local parks. This, in turn, evolved into yet another venture - downtown to Mocha Maiden (a hip new coffee/music/art venue in the historical district of Akron). We had a great time. After about 2 hours of listening to the artists durning open mic night we decided to leave, as it was approaching 11:00 pm. It was what I call a "school" night for me, which means I work the next morning.
We walked to the parking garage, piled in the car, and cranked the engine - the car wouldn't start. We were out of gas! A quick call to our insurance company and a long, long wait for the tow truck followed. We were fortunate that our insurance policy covers these types of incidents, however I was not too happy being told we would have to wait an hour. Come on, we are in downtown Akron, it's not like we're stranded in a cornfield where the closest towing service is across the state. We waited, and waited outside the parking garage. At least the view was nice, it's right across the construction site of the new Akron Art Museum. When it's done, it's going to be one badass building. The building is amazing!
About an hour later the tow truck came and we were told the truck was too large to drive into the parking garage. Duh . . . did you not think of that? So, we waited and waited for another smaller truck. Needless to say we got home very late and went to bed around 2:00am. Oh, we did manage to stop by Taco Bell for a late night snack. Afterall, it was next to the gas station where we were towed.
Lessons learned:
Bryan: Fill your car up when your light goes on. This is not a challenge to see how many more miles you can squeeze out of your tank after your "Gas Empty" light illuminates.
Sharon: Be patient waiting for the tow truck. Worse things in life can happen, and big deal you're a little sleepy at work the next day - take it in stride.
