Obama's Social Security Plan

So, I hear this thing at work today that Obama is proposing to take 10% out of 401(k)'s to fund the social security system. My friend and I immediately began to panic. We sat there talking in lieu of working . . . going on and on. How can they do that? And, if that is the case, I'll take all my money out and put it in a shoebox. I won't care about the early withdrawal fees, or losing out on interest. NO ONE is taking the money WE saved for our retirement. I had a difficult time trying to confirm online if this was indeed a proposal. I did come across something saying it was an April Fool's joke, but I can't confirm it. Please, please, please tell me this is not true. If so, what the heck is happening to America? If it's a joke . . . well than I sure got fooled.
