a month ago today in china - september 7

The first of a series of 12 or so intended installments of pictures, detailed adventure begins here. [DO mouse over the pictures for the captions!]

Day 1
Shanghai
We touched down in Shanghai, China at 1:42PM local time. This was 1:42 (minus the PM, plus the AM) Ohio time; tired, yet so jazzed because our itinerary for this day said something to the effect of, "arrive at hotel; free time".

During the entire trip, our tour put us up in [literally] 5-Star hotels.

While most others settled into their hotel room and ate at the in-hotel restaurant, we ventured out into the city noted as 8-times the size of NYC (boroughs included). Friday the 5th, while still in Ohio, we had reservations in a restaurant across from the famous Bund . . . in Shanghai on Sunday night. MANY thanks to Bob and Dawn for advising us in various aspects.

We survived "late-night Shanghai" . . . let's just say that was somewhere around 11:00AM Sunday morning - Ohio time - marking 28+ hours of "go-time" for us since departure from Ohio, USA . . . and hence ending the shortest day (September 6th), and marking the longest day (September 7th) of our life.
