My mom and grandmother would be proud! I made palacsinta a few weeks ago for party with an international food theme.
Palacsinta are a Hungarian sweet crepe which I grew up on. My mother's parents are both Hungarian, and my grandma was born there. I took an amazing trip to Hungry with my mom and grandmother in my mid- twenties. We will be celebrating my grandmother's 90th birthday in April I will be making Hungarian nut roll. This should be interesting because I have never made it before. My mom says it's easy. Hmmm...we shall see.

Hooray!
WOW Sharon, palacsinta -- congrats! I make good stuffed cabbage rolls, but have never tried the bakery-side of Hungarian cooking. Good luck on the 'nut roll'. (My Mom's parents were born in Budapest ... such beautiful country.) Love your blog!

Hey Sharon, I just remembered a Hungarian funny... when us 6 kids were bad, Mom would threaten us with the fakanálról. We thought she said 'fuckinol' so to this day we still laugh! BarbW:-)
My beloved gram passed away this week and unfortunately she didn't make it to her 90th birthday or to our nut roll. My mom and I still celebrated her love for cooking that day - and my mom taught me how to make this wonderful roll. A tradition which will live on. love you gram!
